Starting a Craft Business Online

I have been working with a client with getting her home business online. My client Susan was probably the most fun out of all my clients. She sells crafts. She usually sells at flea markets and other types of venues of that sort. After many request from customers decided to give cyberspace a shot. She had one request from me. The online business needed to be easy for her to maintain due to her small budget.

Now that I understood her needs, I had the task of finding her creating her online presence. Susan was still a novice when it came to Internet and computer and she was also very busy with her everyday business. She wanted a really simple site to display her goods and take payments. I thought having a regular site could a little to challenging.  After looking all over the web I decided to give eBay a look.

What I liked about eBay was how easy it was to get their information. They have a series of short video tutorials to take the end user through step by step process of setting up a store. Also, they have video tutorials on how to sell, list products, marking business and much more. A person could access the information without giving any personal information. No hook and crook there. I went through the tutorials and found them very informative and easy to follow.

When I told Susan of what which way I thought she should go, she refused. She did not want her products lost amongst the other items. I told how about the store option and how she could get new customers and sell to her existing customer. I advised her to go through the video tutorials and then make the decision. When she was done she very excited but still worried that she would get lost in the shuffle. I gave her a few tips to customize her store front.

In the end, Susan did start her business on eBay. Susan said the hardest part was taking a good picture. She works with the eBay staff and have found them pleasant and helpful. She has sold several items to new and old customers. Eventually she would like will have a traditional website with the eBay store. But for now she is very happy with her new eBay store.
